Introduction The MCR80-QP (Quiet Power) radiator series are heavy-duty liquid-to-air heat exchangers designed to be used with 80mm fans, and specifically engineered for space-constrained liquid cooled PC's. They are the result of months of research and development focused on optimizing thermal performance and acoustic noise characteristics with low to medium output fans. The MCR80 -QP series heat exchangers have been engineered to meet today's PC industry highest thermal loads, quality standards, and low noise requirements at competitive prices. Optimized for 80mm fans with low to medium output (45 CFM and below) The single core cross-flow design achieves identical pressure drop and flow rates to that of 2-pass dual core radiators of the same size, allowing a more compact design without penalty in system flow rate. Performance Curves "The old against the new " Click picture to zoom in - Lower is better Despite its more compact size, the flow resistance of the MCR80-QP is similar to that of the earlier MCR80 due to the MCR80-QP's single row of tubes being larger, and having a single pass (crosflow) configuration. Click picture to zoom in - Higher is better While the flow resistance of the two 80mm radiators is similar, the MCR80-QP provides ~10% better heat dissipation in the flow range of interest of 1 to 1.5 gpm. Click picture to zoom in - Lower is better The above curves are very similar to waterblock C/W data and can be interpreted in the same fashion. They will allow users to estimate the temperature rise of the water in the circuit, based on the coolant flow rate. For exemple, looking at the chart above, we see that the MCR80-QP has a C/W of 0.10 at 1.5 gpm, versus 0.11 for the MCR80-old. At 100 Watts, this means that the MCR80-QP will drop the coolant temperature by 1°C lower than the MCR80-old.
