MCX159™ series heatsinks Reviews

I personally could not hear the fan, and it didn't add any noticeable noise to my system. ..most overclockers use [the MCX159] because it's practical and keeps your Northbridge temperatures at a good level, so you can achieve a huge FSB. I was very pleased with the [MCX159] cooler.. I found this cooler to be a great bargain and performer." Feb. 2006

"..for a performance rig pushing the overclocking envelope a Northbridge chipset cooler is a must. Swiftech has positioned the [MCX159-CU] extreme Duty cooler as an alternative to water cooling the Northbridge..With a quarter inch of copper in the base alone, you would have to do some pretty radical overclocking to need more than this cooler watching your back. Going for the big numbers? You just cant go wrong with a Swiftech MCX159-CU on the Northbridge."

"O MCX159-R da Swiftech impressiona desde o momento que é retirado da caixa. Tem um aspecto fenomenal, uma qualidade de construção fantástica e uma performance de topo." June 2004

"The numbers speak for themselves. This [MCX159™] chipset cooler is better than the stock coolers. With the fan running you still have an extremely quiet system .." March 2004
Red&Blackness gives it 5 out of 5 dots

"What the MCX462 does for your CPU, the MCX159 does for your northbridge chip. Providing not only a quiet alternative to your stock cooling, but also bringing with it much improved temperatures." February 2004
"I will say though that I think the MCX159 chipset cooler made a definite improvement in my system in that I was able to get 200mhz more of an overclock on my system without increasing the voltage. I call that substantial when you consider that it took my XP2500 from 2.2 to 2.4ghz and rock steady. I can't honestly contribute the change to theMCX462-V™ heatsink alone as I have had temps in this range before and still had trouble overclocking." January 2004
This is the first cooler that I have reviewed from Swiftech and I'm really impressed with this company. The MCX159 is a very good Northbridge cooler, and it is clear that they put a lot of work and care in their products. The mirror-finished copper base is a very good example that they try to deliver their products as good as possible. The test results were also very well, the passive cooling with the stock aluminum heatsink cleary could not compete with the big air-cooled copper/aluminum hybrid force from Swiftech!

"The Swiftech MCX159 chipset cooler is available for AMD systems (MCX159-A), Intel systems (MCX159-P) and a retail version (MCX159-R). The MCX159 is unlike any other chipset cooler.." November 2003

"The Swiftech MCX159-R can arguably be warranted as the currently best available active chipset cooling solution. The low noise levels and quality cooling allow for the Swiftech MCX159-R to be easily adapted into a high performance low noise environment such as a new or existing water cooling setup. The overall attention to detail and quality construction are very impressive with performance to match." October 2003

"The Swiftech MCX159 is a great product, but which one do we pick, the NorthPole we reviewed a few days ago, or the MCX159? First of all, the fan on the MCX159 is less noisy. The MCX159 is also slightly smaller which helps when using extremely large heatsinks on your CPU. The MCX159 comes in two versions and is more widely available than the NorthPole. The MCX159 does cost a little more, but it is made right here in the good old USA. I would say those are more than enough reasons to pick the MCX159 for your NB cooling needs! " October 2003

"The Swiftech MCX159™ has proven itself to be as capable a Northbridge cooler as its larger cousin, the MCX462™, is a CPU cooler. Add to this great performance almost silent operation, and you have a package that is very easy to like. Owners of MCX462 heat sinks who are also into looks also get the bonus of having a matching set of components. " October 2003
